Shane Dawson was born and grew up in Fort McMurray where he played
little league until moving to Drayton Valley. Playing for the Spruce Grove White Sox, he won a gold medal at Western Canadian championships. He then continued on to the collegiate level, playing for PBA (Prairie Baseball Academy) out of Lethbridge. After
winning the CCBC championship and being selected to the all-conference
team, Shane was drafted in the 17th round (535th overall) by the
Toronto Bluejays. Shane was the 29th best Bluejays prospect in 2015,
accumulating a 15-6 record and a 3.03 ERA. That same year, Shane was
part of Team Canada that won a gold medal in walk off fashion at the
Pan Am Games. In his last two years with the Toronto Bluejays
organization, Shane pitched 241.1 innings, pitched against
the Boston Red Sox led by retiring David Ortiz, and represented Canada
at the World Baseball Classic. He finished his Bluejays organization
tenure with a 36-29 record and a 4.04 ERA over 505.2 innings pitched.
Boris grew up playing baseball in his native country of Venezuela and brings 8+ years of coaching experience to the Strive team. He spent five years as the Head Coach of San Rafael Little League team in Maracaibo, Venezuela. After moving his family to Houston, TX he spent one season with the Bantam Rockies. Boris has also spent the last two seasons with the JD program here in Calgary, AB.
